EN 166:2001 PERSONAL EYE-PROTECTION

The EN 166 standard specifies requirement for personal eye-protectors, used to combat various hazards as encountered across numerous industries which are likely to damage the eye or impair vision. The EN 170 standard specifies requirements for ultraviolet filters, while EN 172 refers to the sun glare filtration for industrial use.


All Milwaukee safety glasses are certified according to EN 166,to guarantee the eye protection and the resistance to impact. The clear safety glasses are EN 170 certified, to offer an UV protection, even with clear lenses, while the tinted and polarised safety glasses are EN 172 certified to offer a solar protection, ideal for the jobsite and also during leisure time.

HAND PROTECTION
EN 388:2016 PROTECTIVE GLOVES AGAINST MECHANICAL RISKS

The EN 388 standard specifies requirements, test methods, marking and information to be supplied for protective gloves against the mechanical risks of abrasion, blade cut, tear, puncture and, if applicable, impact.


The impact protection has to fully encompass the back of hand, including the fingers. This standard is intended to be used in conjunction with EN ISO 21420.


All Milwaukee hand protection solutions are certified according to both EN ISO 21420 and EN 388 standards, the rating given varies for each type of gloves. EN ISO 21420 is the European general requirement and test method standard for protective gloves.

The EN 511 standard specifies the requirements and test methods for protective gloves against convective cold or contact cold down to - 50 ° C solid.

The EN ISO 20471 standard specifies requirements for high visibility clothing to ensure it is capable of visually signaling the user’s presence. High visibility clothing ensures the user can be seen in all light conditions and is divided into 3 performance classes depending on the requirements.

KNEE PADS
EN 14404:2004+A1:2010 KNEE PROTECTORS FOR WORK WHEN KNEELING

EN 14404 is the European standard for knee protection.


Knee pads certified according to the EN 14404 standard are tested regarding impact absorption, pressure distribution of the entire surface, penetration of sharp or pointy objects.


Knee pads are classified in types and in protection classes. Only certified products are allowed to show the protection class with the logo.

Type 1Knee pads independent of other clothing, fastened around the legs.
Type 2Knee pads in foam or other padding, secured in pockets on the legs, or which is permanently attached to the pants.
Type 3Knee pads not stuck to the body but placed in position as the user moves around.
Type 4Knee pads, which is part of a unit with additional functions, such as the framework for support to stand up, or kneeling seat. Can be worn on the body, or be independent.
